Seven soldiers were injured in an explosion at a military training ground in Sweden’s Västra Götaland County, with five of the injured receiving treatment in intensive care units.
7 Military Personnel Hospitalized
Swedish public broadcaster SVT reported that regional authorities confirmed that seven people were taken to hospital following the explosion, adding that five of them were being treated in intensive care.
The Swedish Armed Forces have not yet determined the nature of the incident that caused the injuries, while the relevant authorities have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mikael Ågren, a communications officer with the Swedish Armed Forces, told the broadcaster that an incident had occurred at the training ground but said it was not yet possible to determine exactly what had happened.
Injuries Caused by Shrapnel
Ågren said the injured personnel taken to hospital were professional military personnel rather than conscripts.
In a statement published on its website, the Swedish Armed Forces said the soldiers sustained shrapnel injuries, without providing further details about the nature of the explosion or what caused it.
