U.S. President Donald Trump has announced “significant progress” on plans to establish a U.S. Army base in Poland, praising what he described as the “bold” leadership of Polish President Karol Nawrocki.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said efforts to establish the U.S. military base in Poland were making substantial progress, adding that its location would be announced soon if the project is completed.
Trump said the establishment of the base, if realized, would represent a “historic step” in the alliance between the United States and Poland.
Details of the Planned U.S. Base in Poland
Trump did not disclose details about the potential location of the base, the size of the facility, or the expected timeline for its construction or completion.
The development comes amid growing defense cooperation between Washington and Warsaw. Poland is one of the United States’ key allies in Eastern Europe and already hosts U.S. troops as part of NATO commitments.
Poland is also home to U.S. military facilities linked to missile defense, including the missile shield installation at the Redzikowo base.
Strengthening the U.S. Military Presence
Poland has sought to strengthen the U.S. military presence on its territory as part of the security guarantees it relies on amid concerns related to Russia, particularly as security tensions in Europe continue against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine.
Warsaw is also one of Ukraine’s prominent supporters, providing military assistance and financial backing, while closer defense cooperation with Washington remains one of the key issues shaping relations between the two countries.
