Information reportedly recovered from a Houthi operations official in Yemen has revealed what the National Resistance forces on the country’s western coast described as a multi-stage plan to gain control of the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The National Resistance said the information was found on a laptop belonging to a senior Houthi commander who was captured by government forces on the western coast. The commander was reportedly responsible for operational affairs within the group.
Military Maps Outline Moves Toward Bab al-Mandab
According to the information presented, the alleged plan included military maps outlining four stages of operations toward Bab al-Mandab and the Hodeidah area, along with details of planned military movements and operations.
The maps reportedly showed a gradual advance across areas of Yemen’s western coast. The National Resistance said the plans were linked to support and guidance from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The material also reportedly indicated that the IRGC considers the battle along Yemen’s western coast an “existential battle,” as part of efforts to expand its influence and secure control over strategic areas overlooking the Red Sea.
The authenticity of the documents and information presented could not be independently verified. The Houthis have not issued an immediate comment addressing the claims.
