US President Donald Trump has warned that Britain is facing serious challenges, describing the country as being “on the brink of disaster” while criticizing high energy costs, net-zero policies and the government’s approach to immigration.
In an interview with GB News, Trump said Britain was dealing with major problems, claiming that energy costs were three to four times higher than what he believes they should be.
Trump Criticizes Britain’s Energy Policies
Trump renewed his criticism of Britain’s energy strategy and its transition away from fossil fuels, arguing that greater use of traditional energy resources could help reduce costs and support economic growth.
He has repeatedly opposed policies aimed at cutting emissions to combat climate change and has previously called for greater exploitation of oil and gas reserves in the North Sea.
Warning Over Immigration
Trump also sharply criticized Britain’s immigration policies, warning that continued migration could, in his view, change the country’s identity.
He described immigration as a “huge problem” for Britain and urged the government to take steps to halt the flow of migrants into the country.
Illegal immigration, particularly the arrival of migrants in small boats, remains a major concern among British voters and has contributed to the growing support for Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage.
Trump Praises King Charles Despite Criticism of Government
Trump’s comments come amid a sometimes complicated relationship between Washington and London, despite his repeated praise for Britain and the longstanding ties between the two countries.
The US president also reiterated his admiration for King Charles, saying he loves Britain and its people, while continuing to criticize several aspects of British domestic policy, particularly on energy and immigration.
