Russian strikes killed three people, including a child, in Ukraine’s Brovary district northeast of Kyiv on Saturday, Ukrainian officials said, as authorities warned residents of an incoming ballistic missile threat.
Moscow has sharply intensified its attacks on Kyiv and surrounding areas in recent months, frequently using short, concentrated barrages of ballistic missiles that are difficult for Ukrainian air defenses to intercept.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the regional military administration, said on Telegram that three people, including a child, were killed and three others wounded in the strikes on the Brovary district.
He said falling debris damaged residential buildings and vehicles and triggered a fire at a non-residential facility.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service released images showing a building engulfed in flames. It said the attack on the village of Pukhivka destroyed a two-story house and two vehicles and caused a fire at a warehouse.
An AFP reporter in Kyiv said a series of explosions could be heard as Ukraine’s Air Force warned of a “threat of ballistic weapon use from the north.”
Meanwhile, Kyiv’s military administration reported that four people were wounded in overnight attacks on the capital.
Authorities had earlier issued an air raid alert across Kyiv, warning residents about the use of ballistic missiles and urging them to immediately seek shelter.
