An overnight drone attack on the Russian Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk killed a child and damaged four businesses and more than two dozen residential buildings, Mayor Andrei Kravchenko said Wednesday.
Eight people, including the child, were injured in the attack, while another person was killed and several others wounded elsewhere in Russia’s Krasnodar region, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said.
Novorossiysk, a major hub for oil and grain exports, was targeted amid escalating Russian-Ukrainian attacks on energy and port infrastructure. Unverified videos posted on Telegram appeared to show flames and thick smoke rising over parts of the city.
In Russian-occupied Crimea, more than 30 drones were reportedly shot down over Sevastopol, according to the city’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev. Several homes were damaged, but no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, Russian strikes continued across Ukraine. In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian attack sparked a fire at a shopping mall and disrupted electricity supplies to around 1,200 consumers, regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said.
Another Russian strike damaged infrastructure in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa, according to local authorities.
The latest attacks come as both sides continue targeting critical infrastructure. Moscow has recently intensified strikes on Ukrainian food, agricultural and logistics facilities, while Kyiv has stepped up attacks on Russian energy and port infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tuesday that Kyiv had submitted proposals to US negotiators for a potential plan to end the war.
