The US State Department said Wednesday that the United States had successfully disrupted Iran’s ability to deliver money and supplies to groups affiliated with Tehran, claiming that the Iranian government no longer has the financial resources or the capacity to transfer them to its regional allies.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott made the remarks in comments to Al Arabiya and Al Hadath, saying that Tehran could no longer deliver funds and supplies to its proxies.
Pigott stated that Iran “does not have the money and cannot deliver it to its proxies,” reflecting Washington’s position on Tehran’s ability to continue providing financial and logistical support to allied groups in the region.
Washington Cites Historic Progress in Lebanon
Separately, the US State Department spokesperson said Washington had achieved what he described as “historic progress” toward implementing the framework agreement in Lebanon.
Pigott stressed that disarming Hezbollah was necessary to achieve peace in the country, in line with the stated US position.
He also said that the mechanism for preventing clashes allows the United States to monitor developments on the ground in Lebanon as efforts continue to implement the agreement.

Pigott’s remarks reflect Washington’s focus on limiting Iran’s ability to provide financial and logistical assistance to its regional allies, alongside efforts to advance the implementation of the framework agreement in Lebanon.
The US official reiterated that disarming Hezbollah was, from Washington’s perspective, a necessary step toward achieving peace, as the United States continues to monitor developments related to the agreement.
