U.S. President Donald Trump said the war with Iran would end very soon, expressing confidence that energy prices would decline and gasoline prices in the United States would fall below the levels recorded before the war began.
Speaking to reporters in Arizona on Wednesday, Trump said the Iran crisis would be resolved quickly, predicting that an end to military operations would ease pressure on energy markets.
Trump: Preventing Iran from Obtaining Nuclear Weapons Is a Priority
The U.S. president said preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons was one of the main reasons behind the military action. He argued that Iran possessing such weapons would pose a serious threat to the Middle East and other regions.
Trump accused Iran of being the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and claimed that Tehran could use a nuclear weapon within 24 hours of obtaining one, warning of the potential consequences for regional and international security.
He described the cost of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons as “a very small price” compared with the risks he said would arise if Tehran obtained them.
Trump Predicts Lower Gasoline Prices
Trump linked the end of the war to falling energy prices, asserting that gasoline prices in the United States would drop below their prewar levels.
However, he did not provide a specific timeline for ending military operations or details of a potential settlement with Iran, reiterating only that the war would end soon and fuel prices would decline afterward.
