U.S. President Donald Trump rallied Republican supporters and party leaders at an electoral gathering in Dallas as the party begins preparations for the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November 3.
Trump declared that the United States had won the war against Iran, while warning that Washington would respond forcefully to any Iranian nuclear activity at Mount Ax. “We will hit Mount Ax hard if Iran conducts nuclear activities there,” he said.
Trump also called for renaming the Strait of Hormuz, saying it should be known as the “Trump Strait.”
Trump Promises $5,000 to American Adults
As he sought to rally Republican voters ahead of the midterm elections, Trump pledged to pay $5,000 to every adult American if Republicans maintain control of both chambers of Congress following the election.
Trump warned that a Republican defeat would put what he described as the “achievements of the past two years” at risk, calling the period the “most successful presidential period” in U.S. history.
He also claimed that his administration had achieved the largest reduction in the U.S. budget deficit in American history and stressed that Republicans “must win” the upcoming elections to preserve those gains.
Trump argued that allowing Democrats from what he called the “radical left” to shape the country’s future could leave the United States spending the next decade trying to recover, describing such a scenario as a “tragedy.”
He urged Americans to vote Republican, declaring that the party would enable the United States to “outperform the entire world for generations to come.”
Trump Vows to Address Cost-of-Living Pressures
Trump accused previous U.S. administrations of having “killed and buried the American dream,” while insisting that his administration was working to address the affordability crisis and ease pressure on household budgets.
He also vowed to reverse the historical trend in which the party controlling the White House typically loses congressional seats during midterm elections.
Trump Escalates Attacks on Immigration Policies
On immigration, Trump claimed that no undocumented immigrant had managed to enter the United States during the previous 15 months, pointing to his administration’s border security policies and efforts to curb illegal immigration.
He accused Democrats of leaving behind what he described as “the worst and most dangerous border in American history” and claimed that 25 million undocumented immigrants had entered the country.
The two-day Republican gathering highlights the central role Trump continues to play in the party’s political strategy and provides an opportunity for Republicans to promote their priorities ahead of the November election.
Republicans face the possibility of losing control of at least one chamber of Congress, as signs point to growing enthusiasm among Democratic voters and declining approval ratings for Trump.
Historically, the party occupying the White House tends to lose congressional seats during midterm elections. The Trump administration is also facing political pressure over rising energy and consumer prices, as well as the economic consequences of the war with Iran and U.S. tariff policies.
