Oman said lasting security in the Strait of Hormuz requires permanent peace across the region and rejected any further escalation or conflict, the Omani foreign minister told his Japanese counterpart on Thursday.
The remarks came amid ongoing concerns over security and navigation through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy shipments.
Iran has said that an agreement with Oman on establishing new shipping lanes through the strait is in its final stages, as regional countries continue efforts to maintain safe maritime traffic.
Oman has consistently advocated dialogue and de-escalation as a means of addressing regional tensions, while emphasizing the importance of ensuring the security and stability of vital maritime routes.
