Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Iran and its allies could attempt to disrupt Tuesday’s Israeli elections, threatening Tehran with a forceful response if it carries out hostile actions.
Netanyahu has made national security a central theme of his election campaign, highlighting the war he launched against Iran in February alongside the United States and arguing that he is uniquely positioned to see the campaign through.
“We have intelligence signs that our enemies, Iran and its proxies, could challenge us with attacks in order to disrupt the elections,” Netanyahu said in a video released by his office on Sunday.
“Don’t test us. You will suffer disproportionate blows,” he added, saying Israel’s military was prepared for both defensive and offensive operations.
Netanyahu Posts AI-Generated Image of Tel Aviv
Earlier on Sunday, Netanyahu shared an AI-generated image depicting a mushroom cloud engulfing Tel Aviv. The post also included text attributed to a right-wing political commentator describing Iran as an existential threat and arguing that other issues dominating the election campaign were insignificant by comparison.
Israel’s longest-serving prime minister has intensified his security-focused messaging in the final days before the vote, emphasizing the threat posed by Iran and its regional allies.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu said he had instructed Israel’s security forces to topple Iran’s clerical government.
A day earlier, he posted a video showing himself standing in front of a fighter jet while speaking by phone with US President Donald Trump. In the video, Netanyahu said the two leaders would “finish the job” together.
