Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published a message on X alongside a video of a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, following Trump’s announcement of support for Netanyahu in the upcoming Israeli parliamentary elections.
“I will work together with my friend, President Trump, to permanently eliminate the threat posed by the Iranian regime,” Netanyahu wrote.
During the conversation, Netanyahu told Trump that they still had unfinished work to complete, pledging to carry it out in cooperation with the US president. He also suggested that no one else could accomplish the task.
Addressing Trump, Netanyahu said the American people should recognize what he described as the greatest threat facing them: the possibility of the Iranian regime acquiring nuclear weapons. “We will not allow that to happen,” he said.
The Israeli prime minister also expressed confidence that the Abraham Accords, signed during Trump’s first term, could be expanded, pointing to what he described as significant results achieved through their cooperation.
Trump praised Netanyahu, calling him “a great warrior,” and added that they would prove it “very soon.” He also said he wanted Netanyahu by his side.
The US president had previously endorsed Netanyahu in the upcoming Israeli parliamentary elections, arguing that if another person became prime minister, the United States might have to “finish the job” itself, a prospect he said he did not want.
Netanyahu thanked Trump for what he described as strong support and close cooperation, emphasizing their intention to continue working together.
The remarks come amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran. Iranian Revolutionary Guard spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi warned that Iran’s energy infrastructure could be targeted in a conflict, stating that Tehran would respond forcefully to any such attack.
