Lithuanian authorities said a NATO fighter jet shot down a drone inside Lithuanian airspace, according to the National Crisis Management Center.
NATO fighter jets had been scrambled earlier after a drone was detected near the capital Vilnius. Authorities later confirmed that the drone had been shot down.
The incident comes amid rising tensions between Russia and the Baltic states, which have reported repeated incidents involving drones entering their airspace.
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have previously said they did not authorize Ukraine to use their territory or airspace to carry out drone attacks against targets inside Russia.
