Multiple explosions were heard early Thursday in coastal areas of Iran’s Hormozgan Province, amid continued military tensions in the Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz.
Reports indicated that explosions were heard in the coastal areas of Sirik and Qeshm, as well as in coastal areas of Minab. The nature and source of the explosions remained unclear, with no immediate official confirmation regarding the cause.
Sounds Reportedly Coming From the Sea
The Hormozgan governor’s office said the sounds heard on Qeshm Island appeared to be coming from the direction of the sea. Iranian reports also said projectiles fell in several areas of Sirik.
There were no confirmed details about the type of projectiles or who may have launched them. Authorities had also not announced the extent of any casualties or material damage.
Rising Tensions Around the Strait of Hormuz
The reported explosions come amid escalating military tensions between the United States and Iran, raising concerns over the safety of maritime traffic and energy supplies in the Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz.
The region has recently witnessed a series of military developments involving commercial vessels and oil tankers, adding further pressure on global trade and energy markets.
