Iranian state media reported hearing several explosions in the Karban area of Sirik, a city in Hormozgan Province in southern Iran overlooking the Strait of Hormuz. The cause and nature of the explosions have not been disclosed.
The official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that explosions were heard in the area, noting that no information was yet available on whether they were caused by attacks or missile launches.
Local sources have not provided further details about the incident, and there have been no reports of casualties or material damage.
According to the report, these were the first explosions of their kind reported in the area during October, amid a relative lull in the confrontation between the United States and Iran in recent weeks.
The war began on February 28 with US-Israeli attacks on Iran, which resulted in the deaths of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior Iranian officials.
