A series of explosions was reported in the part of the Zaporizhzhia region under Ukrainian control, according to Ivan Fedorov, the regional administration chief appointed by Kyiv.
Fedorov said in a post on Telegram that explosions were heard in several areas of the region, without providing details about their nature or identifying any potential targets.
There were no immediate confirmed reports of casualties or material damage resulting from the explosions, while details surrounding the incident remained limited.
The developments come amid continued military operations between Russia and Ukraine, with attacks targeting military positions, infrastructure and other facilities in various parts of the country.
Russia has previously announced strikes against military and infrastructure targets in several Ukrainian regions, while Kyiv continues to call on its Western allies to strengthen its air-defense capabilities, particularly by supplying advanced air-defense systems and interceptor missiles.
The Zaporizhzhia region is located in southeastern Ukraine. Russian forces control most of the region, while the city of Zaporizhzhia remains under Ukrainian control.
