Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Sunday called on Muslim countries across the region to strengthen unity and cooperation in confronting the United States and Israel.
Khamenei issued the written message six months after the outbreak of the Middle East war. He has remained largely out of public view since being appointed supreme leader following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, on February 28. Iranian authorities have yet to release any video or audio recording of him since his appointment.
Khamenei Urges Muslim Countries to Stand Together
In his message, Khamenei stressed the importance of unity among Muslim nations, calling for closer cooperation and avoiding internal divisions.
“The solution to the problems of the Islamic nations is unity of words, friendship, and cooperation on the path of goodness,” he said, according to his official website.
He warned that any actions or statements that contribute to division and conflict among Muslims ultimately serve the interests of what he described as the enemies of Islam.
Khamenei also addressed the rulers of countries across the region, urging them to identify what he called their “real enemy,” understand its plans and confront the United States and Israel.
Calls for Unity Inside Iran
The Iranian supreme leader also called on the country’s officials and citizens to set aside their differences and maintain national unity in the face of external pressure.
He urged Iranians not to allow disagreements to undermine social cohesion, reiterating a message he delivered in a statement issued on Friday.
“I firmly declare that doing anything detrimental to social cohesion is prohibited,” he said in that earlier message.
His comments come amid heightened tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel, as well as growing pressure on Tehran’s economy.
Khamenei Calls for Economic Changes
In his Friday statement, Khamenei also called for a gradual reduction in Iran’s reliance on the US dollar and urged authorities to increase domestic production.
The supreme leader said strengthening economic activity would be essential to supporting growth after months of pressure linked to a US naval blockade and years of sanctions that have severely affected Iran’s economy and the livelihoods of its population.
Khamenei holds the final authority over major state policies in Iran, making his statements a key indicator of Tehran’s political direction amid the ongoing regional crisis.
