US President Donald Trump said the United States had achieved a military and financial victory over Iran, adding that the war would end soon, “one way or another.” He also hinted at the possibility of further strikes against Tehran, despite insisting that Washington had accomplished its military objectives.
Speaking at a campaign rally at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday, Trump said the United States had not entered the war with Iran to engage in a prolonged conflict similar to the wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan. He stressed that his country would not need to wait years to bring the confrontation to an end.
Further Strikes on Iran Possible
Trump said military action against Iran had been inevitable, adding, “And that’s what we did.” He argued that US operations had inflicted significant damage on Iran’s capabilities and that Washington had defeated Tehran in the war.
At the same time, Trump pointed to the possibility of escalating military operations, saying there could come a stage when a powerful strike against Iran might be necessary, indicating that military options remain on the table for his administration.
War and Energy Prices
Trump linked the end of the war to a decline in energy prices, noting that the conflict had driven up oil prices worldwide. However, he claimed that the United States currently enjoys lower prices than other countries.
He added that fuel prices would fall further once the war ends, arguing that the military campaign would not become a long-term economic burden for Americans.
Warning About the Situation in France
In another part of his speech, Trump warned against what he described as a repeat of events in France in the United States, saying: “We will not allow what happened in France to happen here.” His remarks came during comments about conditions in Europe and policies pursued by his political opponents.
Trump also addressed drug prices, criticizing the price differences between the United States and other countries. He said pharmaceutical companies had sought higher prices in France, while research and development work was being conducted in American cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Iowa and Washington.
He also claimed that he had succeeded in significantly reducing drug prices, describing the reductions as unprecedented in 31 years.
