US President Donald Trump and senior aides met oil and gas executives at the White House on Tuesday to discuss the energy fallout from the war with Iran and broader market concerns, according to an Axios report.
Among those attending was Mike Wirth, whose presence was confirmed by a spokesperson for Chevron, according to the report.
Axios said White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were also present.
The meeting came as rising crude prices linked to supply disruptions in the Middle East increase pressure on the administration.
The report added that disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, which handles roughly a quarter of the world’s seaborne oil, has pushed prices to multiyear highs while also strengthening demand for US oil and liquefied natural gas exports.
