The US military on Monday announced that a fourth American service member had been killed in the war on Iran.
“As of 7:30 am ET (1130 GMT), March 2, four US service members have been killed in action,” the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on X.
“The fourth service member, who was seriously wounded during Iran’s initial attacks, eventually succumbed to their injuries,”
“Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing,” CENTCOM added in the statement.
CETCOM’s announcement came a day after it said that three service members were killed and five seriously wounded in the operation against Iran.
US air and naval forces, together with Israeli forces, are heavily bombarding Iran and President Donald Trump has said the goal is to destroy the country’s military capacity.
In response, Iran has fired missiles at targets in Israel and at US military facilities around the region.
