Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy stressed the need for Iran to respect the security and sovereignty of Arab states and adhere to the principles of good-neighborly relations during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in New York.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, where the two sides discussed the impact of the ongoing regional crisis on Arab countries and ways to contain tensions and promote solutions that could help restore regional security and stability.
Fahmy emphasized the importance of de-escalation and prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, stressing that respect for the sovereignty and security of states is essential to maintaining stability and preventing the conflict from spreading to new areas.

During his meetings in New York, Araghchi has emphasized Tehran’s interest in building greater trust with regional countries and called for expanded dialogue and communication with Arab states, arguing that increased diplomatic engagement could help address concerns and reduce mutual misunderstandings.
